Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I hear freedom is addicting. You’ve been warned!

Two Months in San Diego

Two Months in San Diego

“Look, Milo. Everything the light touches is our kingdom.”

I’ve been on the road for over 2 months now and in San Diego for 6 full weeks. When I was planning my remote year I didn’t know what it would feel like to trade everything I know for total uncertainty. I decided to give myself 2-3 months in San Diego to slowly ease into the vagabond lifestyle. I’m half way there but find myself absolutely enchanted with this city, with its people, with its quirky, earthy and laid-back vibes, with its epic sunsets. Am I really ready to leave all this new-found magic behind so quickly?

Yet, the soul craves adventure. It’s easy to move somewhere and settle into another ‘routine’ quickly. In fact, it’s an admirable human ability but comes with a trade of... we lose that sense of awe that we feel when we first begin/arrive. That’s what most of us do (including me, I lived in Florida for 17 years). We get all cozy and familiar, start to plant our roots, begin to resist change, accept our current reality as a fact. Nothing is wrong with that until it simply doesn’t serve you anymore.

What if one day you wake up from the slumber to discover you have wings? Can you imagine the sense of freedom you gain in that very instant? What would you do with it?

This is an era for that kind of adventure/lifestyle. ANYONE can find a way to “fly” if they so choose to. Yes, it requires sacrificing. Yes, it will be challenging at times. And yes, you absolutely get lonely and home sick some days. But the growth and sense of fulfillment are so worth the effort. The lack of attachment becomes a super power. And the wealth of experience changes you permanently. Not to mention... it costs a fraction of the cost to live abroad in developing countries while earning a US income. How does saving 70% of your earnings sound? The possibilities are endless if you are willing to get creative.

What’s at the top of YOUR bucket list? Where would you go?
